Who You'd Be Driving For

Mullins Trucking LLC is a family company out of Jenkins, Kentucky. The owner's grandfather started it in the early 1950s, and the way the family tells it we were the first coal trucking outfit in this part of the state. We came through the early-2000s downturn that closed a lot of the outfits around us, and we are still running today with roughly thirty employees and contractors. We say we treat people like family because that is genuinely how a company this size has to work — everybody knows everybody, and dispatch knows your name.

What the Work Looks Like

Our bread and butter is bulk — coal, rock, sand, dirt, fertilizer, feed, light scrap — plus dump truck work and general hauling. From there it runs the whole range: freight shipping, long haul runs out of state, and expedited loads when a customer is up against a deadline. Some days are short regional runs around Jenkins, Hazard, Pikeville, Lexington, Louisville, Richmond, Berea, Danville, London, Georgetown, Mt Sterling, Morehead and Williamsburg. Other weeks you are coast to coast. We are a 24/7 operation, so there is real variety in the schedule and real work to be had.

What We Look For

• Drivers who get the load there on time and in one piece, every time.
• People who take care of the equipment they are handed — it is how we keep it worth driving.
• A straight answer when something goes wrong on the road. We would rather hear it early.
• Somebody who can talk to a customer at a job site and represent the name on the door.
